I am truly honored and excited to be back in the Tahoma School District and part of the Maple View community as a Golden Bear! After graduating from the University of Puget Sound, I started my educational leadership journey in 1997 as a teacher in this same building I write this message in today. I have served in various roles throughout my educational career including high school science teacher, athletic coach, K-12 instructional coach and Dean of Students. I have two daughters that have attended Tahoma schools since Kindergarten. My oldest Gracie is a recent Tahoma graduate and my youngest daughter Emmarie is a current student at Maple View.  I am blessed to have planted roots in Maple Valley along with my wife Jessica who serves our area as a licensed mental health counselor.

Arms Locked/Hearts Full is our driving force at Maple View Middle School. We believe that we are at our best when we lock arms with each other. This means students, families, and ALL staff members partnering with each other to meet the social, emotional and academic needs of our students.  We also want to lead with our heart by seeking to understand and encouraging one another while demonstrating empathy. This includes learning about the unique individual stories of each of our kids and their families. I firmly believe that our success at Maple View Middle School will be directly dependent on the degree to which we embrace Arms Locked/Hearts Full.

I am truly blessed to be part of the MVMS community, and it is a privilege to be your principal. Looking forward to Locking Arms and Leading with the Heart.

Bill

Dean of Students Shawn Seeley

In my role as Dean of Students, I have been given the great privilege of working with students who, at times, are struggling with challenges. I believe in holding students by the hand and holding them accountable. At Maple View, we accomplish this by providing high support and having high expectations for all students in our care. We do this because we know every student deserves a safe and welcoming place to belong, be in community, and learn.

During my time in the Marine Corps, certain leadership principles were instilled in me, which I have adapted to working in education. One such principle is “Know your Marines and look out for their welfare.” I have made it a point every year to really know my students and to look out for their best interests, both academically and socially. While grades are important, there is more to a student than academics, and there is a being behind every behavior. It is my desire to help highlight student strengths, celebrate their successes, and assist them in becoming the best versions of themselves.

I am excited to work alongside students, staff, and families for the benefit of every student at Maple View. Arms locked; hearts full!
